Festive Friday - #2

Here we are again making Christmas cards for Christmas! Think of all the cards I will have ready!
If you came here from Diane's blog you are in the right place, but if you just happened upon my blog and this hop then hop over to Terri's blog and start from the first.
I have a very special surprise today for you... I got a wonderful gift in December from my secret sister Michelle Ferris and I want to share it with you today.  She made me a wonderful card and this gorgeous wooden box.
Here is the recipe:Memory box

1 wooden box (dollar store)
2 pkg bling ( dollar store) Rhinestone Border sticker
1 bottle of Deco Art Burgandy Crafters Acrylic (dollar store)
1 bottle of glitter glue (walmart)
1 pkg of colored feathers on sticks (dollar store)

1 12X12 page of WebstersPages - Home for the holidays
1 Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Bundled sage.
1 sheet of Websters Pages letter stickers
Helmars 450 glue
1 sanding block

Take the glass and board out of the top .
Sand any rough edges gently The wood is very soft. Wipe it off with a clean cloth.

Use the Tim Holts Bundled Sage distress ink to ink each side of each corner, the bottom section all the way around the box, the rim , and the inside edge where the glass sits. Let it dry and reink everything.
Paint the first layer of Burgandy inside of box including the top. Let dry. Mix some glitter glue into the Burgandy paint and repaint the inside. Let it dry. I did this once again for the third time to give it a rich look.
Measure carefully each section of the box . Cut each piece and trim to fit. Glue each piece into place.
Add what ever Bling (or not) that you like. I used one corner piece in the bottom rt corner.  Cut the next border apart carefully and put one half on each side of the lock. Then put the flower under the lock. The 3rd piece I again cut it apart. 1 piece in the middle on each end and the flower went in the top left corner on the lid.
The feathers on a stick I just broke off and used the wine red to match the paper.  Used a strip of Score tape(double sided) to adhere the feathers.
Before  replacing the glass  cut a piece of the paper with words on it to fit on the board. I cut and glued small triangles of burgundy flowers to fit in 2 corners.
After replacing the glass adhere the letters MEMORY BOX or what ever words you need across the end.

Festive Blog Hop- #1 for 2012

Happy New Year to everyone! Can you believe that we are already making Christmas cards for Christmas 2012. Welcome to our hop... This hop will be the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month. Please join us and get your Christmas cards done as we do.
If you came from Diane Tuggle's blog you are in the right place... but if you just happened upon my blog please start at the first with Terri and see all the wonderful projects.
I made my card with snowman from stampendous. I used tulip fabric paint for the hat. I used copics and pencil crayons with gamasol. The paper is from my stash and is rubbery.. kinda cool...  it came from my favorite LSS Up The Street . I used Tim Holtz rosette dies for the rosettes.. they are so easy done that way...and some bling from the dollar store The Joy is made from thickers.. I used this card when I was guest designer for Lynne Kirsh but I really liked it so wanted to show it off some more. I hope you have enjoyed the hop so far and now you are off to visit Carol's blog . Happy card making!
